Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven

Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

  1. Make the Meatball Mixture

Add the ground beef, Italian sausage, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, milk, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and parsley to a large bowl.

  1. Mix Gently

Use clean hands or a fork to gently combine the ingredients just until everything is evenly distributed. Avoid overmixing or packing the mixture too tightly, which can make the meatballs dense.

  1. Shape the Meatballs

Using a medium cookie scoop, scoop the meat mixture into even portions. Gently roll each portion between your hands to form a ball and place on the prepared baking sheet. Using a cookie scoop keeps the meatballs evenly sized so they cook at the same rate.

  1. Bake the Meatballs

Bake for about 18–22 minutes, or until browned and the centers reach 160°F.

  1. Serve

Serve immediately with your favorite marinara and pasta, or use the meatballs in subs, bowls, or your Pizza Meatball Bites.

Note

Make It Gluten-Free

Replace the Italian breadcrumbs with gluten-free Italian-style breadcrumbs and make sure the Italian sausage and seasonings you're using are gluten-free.

Frequently Asked Questions

Expand All:

Can I make the meatballs ahead of time?

Yes. Shape them and refrigerate them covered until you're ready to bake, or bake them ahead and reheat when needed.

Can I freeze them?

Yes. Let the cooked meatballs cool completely, then freeze in an airtight container. They're great to keep on hand for quick dinners.

Can I use hot Italian sausage?

Absolutely. Mild keeps them more family-friendly, but hot Italian sausage is an easy substitution if you want more heat.

Can I cook them in sauce?

Yes. I would still brown or bake them first, then finish them in marinara so you get the flavor from browning while the meatballs absorb some of the sauce.
